Wilco on Austin City Limits
Funny story about how I got into Wilco.
Lisa and I had just moved to Sioux Falls. I had heard a little about Wilco and some friends said I would really like them. My friend Ryan and I were debating whether we could afford tickets and had decided that we better save our money and not go to the show.
Ryan worked at the front desk of one of the hotels downtown. Some guy came to the counter that night and asked Ryan what he was doing the next day. Ryan explained that we had thought about going to see Wilco but could not afford it. The guy left and then came back with tickets to the show and backstage passes!
So Ryan and I go to the show and find out we have 2nd row seats dead center. The band takes the stage and Ryan elbows me and tells me "that's the guy who gave me the tickets" as he pointed to the bass player. They played and totally blew our minds. We had some beers with them after the show and explained what a good financial move they made by getting Ryan and I both into their band. Ryan and I both went out and bought every record they had put out.
Now I'm a huge fan and Lisa and I even planned a vacation around one of their shows in Duluth, MN.
